Exhibition

We had a joint exhibition with the art dept in July at Sunderland University. Here is the poster:

The bottom image on the poster is one of mine.

No updates for June

I was far to busy in June to update this blog. It's the last month of my Foundation Degree and everything must be finished and handed in. We are having a joint exhibition with the art dept in July at Sunderland University.

Competition Success

April's SWPP competition has proved to be another tough one. Bronze all the way. Here's the images:

This one was entered in the Events Category. I used to photograph at the local paintball centre and sell the images on the day to the customers.

So, 5 bronzes! It has been said on the forums that the competition is getting harder and that the judging is a lot stricter than it was. Having looked at other entries I'm inclined to agree.

Onwards and upwards, lets see what this month brings.

Competition Success

If you have read my earlier posts you would know I intend to enter more competitions and hopefully get a gold this year in the international monthly competition, run by the SWPP.

I entered in January and have just found out that I have been awarded a gold for this image in the Fashion category:

I was also awarded a bronze in the glamour category for this image:

and another bronze for this image in the traditional portrait category:

I'm so pleased I got the gold and certainly didn't expect to get one this early in the year.

Help-Portrait sessions

Well, we did it.

I organised 2 shoots, the first on the 12th December 2009 (International Help-Portrait day) at St. Davids Community Church, Farringdon, Sunderland, and the second shoot a week later for a project run by WWIN (Wearside Women In Need) - for obvious reasons no further details will be made public about this shoot.

Thanks go to photographers Tom Young, Alan Butler and Maureen Maclaren for helping take the portraits, and to the Beauty Therapy students of City of Sunderland College for doing the hair and make-up. Much appreciated.

Here's a portrait from the first session.

It was touch and go whether I would get this thing going with less than 2 weeks to do it in, but we pulled it off!

Everyone else who I spoke to or emailed in the organisation stages, thanks for your help.
